Shane Doevy went to Saltwater Arm, which is usually a great destination near Darwin at this time of year. Did he get a few? Read his report here.

The Blue Mud Crab … from the Blue Holes
Something a little different here. This blue mud crab came from a spot near the NT’s Gunn Point, called The Blue Holes.
The odd colour is a quirk that mud crabs sometimes display.
If the crab nips, you could swear blue murder … then sing the blues. Sorry.

Cold weather barramundi
We are having a proper dry season this year, with some cold weather – “cold” by NT standards means 13C in Darwin overnight, although it is plenty colder than that as you move inland.
As soon as the water gets cold everyone uses it as an excuse for not catching barramundi, but this picture, a fish caught yesterday, shows the barra are still biting in the billabongs, if not as furiously as they were a month ago.

An albino barramundi
Yep, it’s an albino barramundi, caught in Queensland. You don’t see these too often – you would think he would have stood out like a beacon when small, and been eaten by another fish, given that barramundi are cannibals.
Maybe the other fish thought he was too weird to eat 🙂
Shoal Bay barramundi
You don’t have to go far from Darwin for good barramundi fishing … ‘Ibbsy’ found some good fish at Shoal Bay when most fishos are heading out to all the flooded rivers. Read more here.
South Alligator River barramundi …
FFF forum user “Matt W” had a good day’s barramundi fishing on the South Alligator River, but says the best is yet to come … click here for more.
